The Gangrene Film Festival: 6-pack took on a blue-collar theme, complete with a live bluegrass band, a chicken coop and a full trailer on stage to act as a backdrop for interviews.
A stage-full of square dancers opened the show. Nate emerged from a smoking outhouse, fired toilet paper into the crowd, and tried his hand at square dance calling. Jimmy Chunga, special guest from 107.5 FM, graced the audience with a few minutes of his own material.
The show theme heightened when an Elvis impersonator, Matt Piper, interrupted one of the films to sing CC Rider.

The films were better than ever. For the first time, awards were introduced to the show. The Gangrene Film Festival has always existed more for the audience than for the filmmakers, so the big accolades are the audience choice awards given for both the general session and the late session. The show’s organizers give a smaller bestowal, The Gangrene Productions Find of the Year Award. This is a highly biased award that is given to who, as a new director to the festival, can make show organizers laugh the hardest with their entry.
The show was publicized more enthusiastically. A series of radio spots ran on 107.5, a local radio station. Newspaper advertising was purchased and press kits went out. Feature articles were written about the show in multiple newspapers. Post-show reviews were rave.
The most gratifying part of The Gangrene Film Festival: 6-pack was that the audience was bigger than ever. The laughs could be heard for miles. This, above all other things, is why the Gangrene Film Festival exists.
